After months of preparation and 22 days of build-up, Defqon.1 Weekend Festival 2024, hosted by our friends from Q-dance, was here! From last Thursday, June 27th, to Sunday, June 30th, 100.000 (!!) warriors could enjoy performances in the twelve areas by hundreds of acts on the festival grounds.
Our Backbone team handled the technical design with 3D drawings, technical production, overlay production and management, the entire camping production, and the power infrastructure.
One of the areas we managed was the RED, also known as the main stage, which grows larger and more complex each year. This time, the RED featured five warriors: those from 2011, 2022, and 2023, the warrior princess, and a brand-new warrior. These warriors symbolize the five gods of Defqon.1. The main stage was 114,5 meters wide and 34 meters high, incorporating 66 garbage cans, 51 inflatable boats, eight cars, over 220 crane movements (!), 2500 lights, and kilometers of scaffolding ledgers. In addition, we produced the side objects and all unique projects on the grounds and set up one of the largest campsites in Europe to accommodate around 52,000 guests. Our crew worked diligently to ensure everything was completed on time.
