In February 2025, A State of Trance took over Rotterdam! And it wasn’t just AHOY that transformed into a trance paradise. Besides, Rotterdam Central Station and the MAINPORT Hotel by the Erasmus Bridge were also fully immersed in the A State of Trance atmosphere. For these A State of Trance activations, Backbone handled various technical aspects.
Beyond our work at Ahoy Rotterdam, Backbone helped bring the activation at Central Station to life. The activation was a custom-built 5m x 5m x 3m cube using trusses, LED panels, banners, and a mirrored floor, creating a visual experience. The highlight? On Tuesday, Armin van Buuren surprised fans with a one-hour set in front of the cube, making the activation come alive.
That wasn’t all! The A State of Trance atmosphere carried over to the MAINPORT Hotel. Where guests enjoyed an immersive experience featuring workshops, presentations, a pool party, and even yoga sessions. Attendees also had the opportunity to pitch their tracks to representatives from Armada while Armin led a special session on mental health. Backbone handled the technical setup for these interactive events throughout the hotel for this part.
