May 2024 | Haarlem, The Netherlands | Bevrijdingspop
On May 5th, Bevrijdingspop Haarlem 2024, one of the Netherlands’ largest Liberation festivals, occurred. Over 143,000 people came together to celebrate Liberation Day. The festival consisted of four areas with various food and refreshments counters and performances by Haarlem’s own Chef’Special, Wende Snijders, The Indien and MEROL, and numerous other acts.
A dedicated effort of over 800 volunteers and the support of numerous sponsors and suppliers ensured that Bevrijdingspop Haarlem could happen. Our Backbone team was involved for the 16th time and handled the technical design, technical production, production management, overlay management, the back office, and the essential permits.
During the load-in, a challenge arose due to the heavy rainfall (welcome to the Netherlands). Which saturated the terrain with wet spots and mud. To ensure the terrain was safe and accessible for the visitors, our team managed water drainage and distributed 30 cubic meters of fine sand across the areas using shovels.
