“Built by New Yorkers, for New Yorkers.” The Governors Ball Music Festival (commonly referred to as Governors Ball) is an annually multi-day music event in New York and features a wide range of music genres from rock, hip-hop, and indie to electronic, and more. Held at Citi Field (home of the NY Mets) in Queens from 10 to 12 June, the ’22 edition offered 4 stages and over 70 acts, including artists such as Diesel, Halsey, and Kid Cudi amongst many others. The festival also provided various art installations and inflatables on display, a food program that included New York’s finest culinary goods, multiple pop-up performances, and other fun activities.
Backbone was tasked to place 180,000 square feet of artificial grass in the Citi Field in Queens, NY for the event. Despite the rain in the days leading up to The Governors Ball, the team managed to carry on with an overnight installation. After doing so, they had to load out for over 36 hours to load the parking lot for the Mets game that happened on Tuesday night.
