On Saturday, July 5th, the Amsterdam ArenA experienced the world premiere of Sensation’s Welcome to the Pleasure Dome. This year, the theme of The World’s Leading Dance Event was dedicated to the ultimate playground for adults. A tantalizing show followed, submerging visitors in a merry-go-round for the senses.
ID&Ts Sensation is world famous for its innovative designs and state-of-the-art technologies. Almost every new show of The World’s Leading Dance Event requires an investment in tailor-made technological solutions. Sensation’s Welcome to the Pleasure Dome is based on a center stage that hosts 80% of the show’s elements. With a revolving DJ booth, a rotating crown with 8 computer-controlled hoists, and 8 movable arches with computer-controlled winches, this show was something that had never been done before.
Sensation asked Backbone to translate the creative concept into an executable technical plan. Backbone also kept an eye on the financial aspect of that project and managed the production budget. More than 8 months before the event, Backbone joined the project group to test the creative plan for achievability. After many small adjustments to the original plan, Backbone started further working out the technical plan and therefore began searching for reliable partners to further work out this monstrous construction project.
Since then, Backbone has continuously engaged with the creative team but also with ID&T management to achieve optimal use of the available resources. Through streamlined project planning, managing the production budget, and guiding the production team, Backbone achieved a monstrous construction and production project within the established parameters that are today called “The Beast” by insiders. Since then, this show has visited Hyderabad, Moscow, and Dubai. Who knows where “The Beast” will make its next visit…
